Everything We Do Is Really, Really Brilliant

Single-channel video installation
Duration: 15min 53sec

Driton Selmani, as part of the In the making exhibition program, will bring a unique performance in collaboration with Tristan Halilaj, who will give a site-specific performance on the trumpet. The work is based on the human position and burden in the unknown future, as well as our surprising predictions about the effect of the algorithms we produce, thus ignoring their effect on the surrounding environment. E
verything We Do Is Really, Really, Brilliant appears as a warning about the transformation of the human being. Our fear of nature has turned into an unprecedented capacity to control it – nature itself. All this seems to be leading to a boomerang against the most complex but least responsible being on the planet – us.
The video installation documents the flow of the Lepenc River (the fastest flowing river in Kosovo) near the Sharr Mountains, quite by chance the clarity becomes unclear, questioning the future and uniting our fantasies and anxieties into a single answer: that being on the border between the human and the divine, we, the human race, bear the responsibility of the days to come! And that even the simplest dance of our remains in the river seems like our last ritual.
After the performance, Driton will share more details about his work.
