Fjollë Caka
We build our cities, and then they build/shape us. But who are “we” and how are we represented in space? “Whose” is the city and “who” makes it; who is represented and who is not? How do socio-cultural worldviews and prejudices affect us in the making of cities and in the relationship with each other’s nature? Through international and local examples, Fjolla aims to visualize the relationship between the city and society, as well as to encourage the rethinking of the concepts of making our cities more inclusive, fair, sustainable and smarter towards the climate.
Fjolle Caka is an architect, sociologist and urban planner from Prishtina, educated locally and in the region, as well as in Austria and the United States of America. She has engaged in various local and international projects that address various issues about spatial planning, affordable housing, sustainable mobility, cultural heritage, public spaces and collective memory, climate change management, and has contributed to the organization of activities various educational, cultural and artistic in the country. She is currently completing her doctoral studies, focusing on human settlements and climate change in Kosovo.

Reason, boon or doom for environmentalism? What can Permaculture offer?
Permaculture is transformative ethical framework that fosters positive change and prosperity for both Nature and Human. As a welcoming space for all, Permaculture perceives the constantly changing world operating on complex relationships built upon synergies, multifunctionality, symbiosis and interdependence. Driven by the urgent need to act and acknowledging the role of the Steward, Permaculture employs thoughtful action for systemic interventions that push environmental justice forward by developing a new set of tools, language, concepts and environmental policies for ethical environmental engagement in Kosovo.
For a discussion on these topics, Xhevdet Gegollaj, the founder and executive director of Fondacioni Jeshil, will present the work of Fondacioni Jeshil in developing sustainable urban and rural solutions for harmonic growth in Kosovo, using Permaculture values and principles.
Note: These presentations come as part of the Education+ program in the framework of the In the making exhibition.
