Public Lecture: What is the art system?

What is and what constitutes the art system of contemporary art? How does this system work and what are the differences between Eastern Europe and the Western world? How should artists work and communicate within the art system?  What have you have always wanted to know about the art system, but have not found the answers in manuals? These and other issues will be discussed by Miran Mohar in his lecture, which will be held on the 21st at 6:00 PM at Galeria 17.

This lecture is part of the program for the exhibition Artists of the Day After Tomorrow – Recording Transition (2002–2024).

Miran Mohar (born 1958 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia) is an artist, graphic and stage designer based in Ljubljana.He is a member (together with Dušan Mandić, Andrej Savski, Roman Uranjek+ and Borut Vogelnik) of the artist group IRWIN and co-founder of the art collective NSK, the graphic design studio New Collectivism and the Scipion Nasice Sisters Theatre. Since 2008 he has also been an associate professor, head of the fine arts department and vice-dean at the Academy of Visual Arts in Ljubljana (AVA). He is also a co-founder and member of the Maja Farol architectural movement and, since 2001, a member of the European Cultural Parliament.He was a tutor at the SCCA World of Art curatorial school for 12 years.
