Panel discussion: PËRTEJ – Archiving Transition

The exhibition “PËRTEJ” was organized 25 years ago as a joint project of Dodona Gallery and the Center for Cultural Decontamination from Belgrade. A historical collaboration for the time and circumstances. This is because the organization of the exhibition in Belgrade in the circumstances of that time, when Kosovo was practically before the outbreak of war was not an initiative that would be embraced by the central levels of both countries, whether that of Kosovo or that of Serbia. However, seen from today, this exhibition, despite the unfavorable political circumstances, made its history. It marked the birth of a new generation of artists, pioneers of contemporary art in Kosovo, who were presented with high quality works that corresponded to the advanced trends in world contemporary art. Art connoisseurs in Belgrade, as well as other internationals, have highly appreciated their work. The echo of this bold exhibition helped a lot for this generation of artists as well as a later generation to be affirmed on the international scene to the extent that Kosovo Art has never reached before. Thus, giving light to local experiences and cultural exchanges between Pristina and Belgrade, the starting point of this discussion will be on the exhibition that is open in Galeria 17 and Hotel Grand, to reflect more broadly on the missing chapters in these 25 years.
