Miina Kaartinen is a cultural studies researcher and social worker interested in eco-social and community-based thinking, doing and developing. Currently Miina works as the executive director of Mustarinda.
The Mustarinda Association (founded 2010) is a group of artists and researchers, whose goal is to promote the ecological reconstruction of society, the diversity of cultures and natures, and the connection between art and science. At the centre of the activity lies contemporary art, boundary-crossing research, practical experimentation, publication, education and events. The activities are rooted at Mustarinda House, situated on Paljakka Hill (Kainuu region, Finland) surrounded by an old-growth forest. The house is a versatile space for artist and researcher residencies, hosting 50-80 individuals and groups annually, as well as exhibitions and events.
Note: This presentation comes as part of the Education+ program in the framework of the In the making exhibition.
